Our established Host Family Program provides a safe, supportive alternative for parents and children facing family instability. We honor the strength and vulnerability of all people, no matter where they are on their parenting journey.

Working with the goal of keeping families together and children out of foster care, we provide access to short-term parenting reprieves (Hosting) when needed. Family preservation is at the heart of our work, and sometimes that means asking for help.

What Does Our Hosting Program Do?

Hosting provides short term childcare for children while a parent gets support they need. Hosting provides support to both child and parent. It allows the parent to know their children are safe and well cared for during this time.
With hosting, the parent maintains custody of their child. They are giving us and the volunteer host family permission to provide respite care for their child while they take care of themselves. This is very different from foster care because the parent maintains custody and we work together in partnership to support the parent and family. When the parent is ready for the hosting to end, it ends, and the child is reunified with the parent
