JustChoice is different from many adoption agencies. People are often pressured toward adoption before they are ready or while they are still deciding what they want. That is not how we operate. We support you before, during, and after pregnancy whether or not you choose adoption.
You decide what is right for you. You can change your mind at any time. You can explore all your options without pressure. We also support people who start with an adoption plan and later decide to parent. Your well being matters more than any outcome.
Adoption in Ohio is a step-by-step process that gives you time, support, and full control over your decisions. The process starts when you reach out to us by call or text. We will talk with you about your situation, your needs, and all of your pregnancy options, not just adoption. You will be connected with a dedicated advocate who supports you through each step.
If you want, you can look at adoptive family profiles, ask questions, and decide if you want to meet families. You are never required to choose a family. If you decide to move forward, you can create an adoption plan that includes your pregnancy, your hospital experience, and your wishes after birth.
In Ohio, you cannot sign final adoption paperwork until at least 72 hours after giving birth. This gives you time to rest and make your decision. Support can continue after placement if you want ongoing connection or guidance.
Yes. If you choose adoption in Ohio, you may be eligible for financial support during pregnancy. This can include help with rent or housing, utilities, groceries, transportation, and other essential needs. In many cases, you may qualify for up to $6,000 in living expense support depending on your situation and Ohio guidelines. Adoptive families typically cover approved adoption-related costs, and you are not responsible for those expenses.
Yes. Adoption services are free for birth parents. This includes confidential pregnancy options counseling, legal support, and help navigating the process. We can also help connect you to medical support and assist you in applying for pregnancy-related insurance if needed. If there are any pregnancy-related costs not covered by insurance, you are not responsible for those expenses.
Yes. You are in control of this decision. You can view adoptive family profiles, ask questions, and decide what matters most to you in a family. You can choose to meet families or decide not to meet them. There is no pressure to choose quickly, and you can take your time.
Open adoption means you can choose to stay connected with your child after adoption. Every open adoption plan is different. Some people choose to receive photos and updates. Others prefer phone calls, texts, or in-person visits. You decide the level of contact that feels right for you.
You will create a hospital plan based on your wishes. This can include who is with you in the room, who holds the baby first, how much time you spend with your baby, and when the adoptive family is involved. Your plan is respected, and you can change it at any time.
After birth, you have at least 72 hours before signing any legal adoption paperwork in Ohio. This gives you time to rest and think about your decision. You will meet with a legal professional at no cost to you. Support continues after birth and after placement.
Support can continue after placement if you want it. This may include emotional support, counseling, help adjusting after birth, and connections to community resources. We also support communication in open adoption plans based on what you choose.
